From the Pastor

This year, the theme of the Annual Diocesan Appeal is Sharing the Joy of the Gospel, Together in Christ. As members of Christ and his Church, we are connected to one another: parishioner to parishioner, family to family, and parish to parish. Each year every parish in our Diocese is responsible for a portion of the financial obligation it takes to meet the ministry, programs, and services of our Catholic Church.

Together, we are able to reach so many more who find themselves in need than our parish could ever reach alone.

By now you should have received at your home, a personal invitation from Bishop McGrath to participate in the 2018 ADA. Please take the time to look through the brochure at the services, programs and ministries of our Diocese, the many people that are served through this joining of resources, and the wonderful generosity that has been shared. Our ADA goal this year is $56,468. This is only $200 more than our goal for last year, which we met.

Attending to maintenance and facilities needs is an important responsibility of a pastor. Preventative maintenance is critical in this. Our aging boiler system, which heats the church, will likely need extensive repair this year or next. It could reach or exceed $30,000-$40,000. In order to be diligent in my responsibility to prepare for the unexpected, I am adding $20,000 to the ADA goal this year for a total ADA and Parish Goal of $76, 468.

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Thank you for continuing to support your parish and our diocesan faith community in so many ways. May God bless you.

St. Leo the Great School is now enrolling students for the 2018-2019 school year! The school is a diverse community, and we celebrate our diversity in all areas: ethnicity, athletic abilities, academic abilities, talents, and income. Our school is a safe welcoming environment for both students and their families. With a rigorous curriculum, we are a launch pad to high school and beyond. Current school families have said that the school has faculty and staff who exemplify the Catholic Identity of the school and foster the students' spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development. While being a ministry of the parish, our mission is to provide a community that strengthens Catholic Identity through prayer, worship, and service to all. Our school offers financial aid and scholarship and assists families in applying for financial aid before their child enters high school.  We would love for you to stop by the school office or email jlozzio@stleosj.org / (408) 293-4846 for a tour or further information on our school.  Visit our website or find our application at: http://stleosj.org/k-8admissions.
